The first week of college football is in the books, and oh what a week it was for the ‘Cats. An upset win over #21 Stanford has the ‘Cats faithful flying high, with cupcake EIU next on the docket this week. With low expectations coming into the year, the sky is now the limit for Northwestern, having beaten what we thought was the best team on the schedule. The ‘Cats have skyrocketed up our B1G power rankings, from #11 last week to #5 now. Elsewhere in the B1G, teams looked pretty bad for the most part. Nebraska got Northwestern’d in a Hail Mary loss to BYU, Purdue looked awful in a loss to lowly Marshall, and Indiana escaped the Southern Illinois Salukis with a one point win. Wisconsin and Minnesota may have lost, but they looked pretty competent in defeats to the #1 and #2 teams in the country in Alabama and TCU. And Ohio State? Well, they looked like Ohio State.
Here is our take on the B1G landscape as we enter week two.
Team | Points |
---|---|
1. Ohio State (6) | 84 |
2. Michigan State | 78 |
3. Wisconsin | 72 |
4. Minnesota | 60 |
5. Northwestern | 57 |
6. Nebraska | 54 |
7. Iowa | 53 |
8. Michigan | 45 |
9. Maryland | 31 |
Tie-10. Rutgers | 25 |
Tie-10. Penn St. | 25 |
12. Illannoy | 22 |
13. Purdon’t | 14 |
14. Indiana | 13 |
